About Us
The Directorate of Sports in Makueni County is committed to empowering communities through inclusive programs, modern facilities, and structured talent development,
recognizing sports as a key driver of social cohesion, health, economic growth, and individual potential. To ensure every resident can participate and excel,
the Directorate organizes competitions such as Ligi Mashinani and premier tournaments like the MKJ Supa Cup, develops sports infrastructure, conducts coaching and refereeing clinics,
runs Multidisciplinary talent camps, and provides essential sports equipment building skills, nurturing talent, and supporting athletes at all levels.
To improve efficiency and strengthen planning, it has established the Sports Management Information System (SMIS), a centralized digital platform that transforms how sports data is captured, stored, analyzed, and used.
SMIS eliminates scattered manual processes by offering a reliable, real-time system that enhances accuracy, transparency, and informed decision-making.
The platform consolidates athlete profiles, team records, facility inventories, event results, coaching and officiating data, and program activities in one place, enabling better resource allocation, streamlined competition planning,
and stronger talent development, while tracking athlete progress from grassroots to elite levels.
By improving visibility of facility usage, maintenance needs, and equipment allocation, SMIS boosts efficiency and ensures fair access to resources. Standardized digital processes enhance fairness in team selection,
accountability in program delivery, and reporting accuracy. With seamless coordination across coaches, referees, federations, schools, and administrators, SMIS creates a connected, data-driven sports ecosystem, positioning Makueni County as a leader in modern,
technology-enabled sports development.
